2015 New Orleans Neighborhood Summit
 
CSED is partnering with the Mayor's Neighborhood Engagement Office for the 2015 New Orleans Neighborhood Summit. It's a free, one-day conference featuring skill-building workshops, City information sessions and opportunities for residents to connect with others working to build stronger and more resilient communities. The Summit will be held on Saturday, November 14, in the Professional Sciences Building on the campus of Dillard University, 2601 Gentilly Blvd.
 
Kayaking on the bayou
 
We had a great time kayaking with neighborhood youth and Kayak-iti-Yat  last weekend at Bayou St. John. See pics below. 


EvacuKids program seeks to expand in grade schools
EvacuKids program is made up of 6 one-hour modules on weather, climate and hurricane preparedness. They'd like to offer this curriculum this spring to 4 - 5 classrooms in grades 3 - 5. If you'd like to suggest a Title I school (or a school where at least 80% of students qualify for fee lunch) please contact Kali Roy at [email protected].

Night Out Against Crime this Tuesday
 
The 32nd Annual National Night Out Against Crime is this Tuesday, October 13. It's a community-wide event to raise crime prevention awareness, reduce crime and increase the support of local, state and federal law enforcement. 
 
Meet your Lower 9 neighbors at the following Night Out locations:

5:30  p.m. - 7:30 p.m. 
 
627 Lamanche Street
6 p.m. 
It's a pot luck, hosted by Laura Paul. Bring your favorite dish. 
Fresh produce at Capstone Farmer's Market every Friday 

The Capstone Farmer's Market will be open every Friday through Nov. 20, 3 p.m. - 6 p.m. at 5001 N. Claiborne Ave. Credit and debit cards are accepted and special discounts are available for customers who make purchases with SNAP cards.
